Branson – Lapon Reunion

Visit to Eisenhower Memorial and Library

On our way to Branson, MO we stopped for the evening in Abeline Kansas, the hometown of President Eisenhower and site of his Library and Memorial. While the main building was closed we did get to visit the grounds and the chapel.

Branson Reunion

Our reunion was at the Chateau on the Lake outside of Branson, MO.

On Friday our group went up to Springfield to visit Lapon’s sail at the American Legion Post there.

We did get into town briefly during our visit

Return Home

When we left Branson on Sunday we intended to spend the night in Dodge City, KS. As we passed to the north of Wichita we started getting transmission error messages. Finally the car kicked out of gear. We coasted to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. We called for a tow and were towed back to the Porsche dealer in Wichita, about thirty miles away. We were still not able to get the car in gear when we got to the dealership, so we left the car in the middle of the parking lot.

Luckily we were within walking distance of a hotel and restaurants. We checked into the a Springhill Suits and then went to dinner at a Japanese restaurant

The next morning we walked over to the dealership when they first opened. They immediately started troubleshooting and determined that there was some corrupt code in the car’s computer left over from previous updates. They cleaned up the code and we were on our way about 10:30 AM and so got home around dinner time.
